The mabkhra is classic Tunisian device used for burning incense and thought to be capable of ridding a new home of evil spirits; it’s also used to prepare ceremonial spaces for religious celebrations like soulemeya or Hezb Latif. This solid-silver mabkhra has been decorated with tradtional floral engravings and alternating stretches of smooth, unadorned silver. By pulling on the top of the piece, you can open and fill it with hot embers, which are then sprinkled with fragrant incense.
